Last Wednesday I’ve been invited to a special appointment in Milan: an happy hour with Mac Pro for the event Paint By Number held in an Art Gallery in the most beautiful area of the city. It has been a live body painting performance with the amazingly talented senior artist Michele Magnani and other Pro artists.
This event was meant to get people close to a less common way to approach make up. Usually people see make up just like a way to look and feel better, but they don’t think about it as a true art.
Body painting is the best way to show people how make up can be intended as art, just like any other pictorial, illustrative and graphic art. As you can see, pictures can explain that more than words.
During this event people could experience body painting themselves, thanks to some mannequins prepared to receive colourful strokes. Making people express their crativity is the best way on order to show them what art really means and what it consist in, giving them the opportunity to feel and touch and experiment tools for seeing at the end what they have in their mind and in their soul.
As a technical aspect, Michele told us that it’s best using a primer before doing body painting to shield skin. Then is essential using a silicone based product, such as Pro Acrylic Paints which are the top for warmer days (otherwise you can also use Chromacakes or Paint Sticks, all Mac Pro products).
Michele Magnani and the other Pro artists have well demonstrated how body painting can be considered not only a body art but a visual art indeed, to all intents and purposes.
