We might be in the midst of the colder months, but those working in the fashion industry are already looking to the next season. Fashion houses and designers work seasons ahead of everybody else and high street brands have started to follow suite. We’re able to give you the inside scoop on Bon Prix’s predicted trends for the next fashion season. Their ABC says:

Our 2014 Spring Summer collection includes white-on-white styling contrasted against acid-bright neon’s and classic primary colours. We predict a light and super bright 2014!”

The S/S14 fashion shows were certainly awash with white: Alberta Ferratti sent at least ten white dresses walking down the catwalk, each one decorated with a coloured sash or splash of floral detailing to break up the white; and the Alexander McQueen show was also full of white dresses, this time very structured without a hint of colour, worn under white jackets.

White gleams in bright sunlight and reminds people of summer holidays, which is the white-on-white trend is predicted to be very popular. High street brands like Topshop have gone for white, tailored pieces like shirts, trousers and vests, designed to be worn together. This white jacket from Bon Prix would look great over white trousers. If you’re not ready to go all out white, this white chiffon dress is perfect. The black details mean it can be worn with black accessories for a smart, monochrome look.

The Spring Summer catwalks were also full of colour but it had to be bright acid shades and bright primary colours, worn head to toe or contrasted against white. Ralph Lauren showcased some eye-catching full-length dresses in block colours, as did Derek Lam and Diane Von Furstenberg. Expect to find maxi dresses in primary colours all over the high street this summer.

Block colour isn’t for everyone, but the trend can be worn toned down for everyday living, which is why the trend will be so popular this season. Items like this monochrome t-shirt, which features a stripe of acid yellow, are a great way of wearing a flash of neon colour whilst still looking understated.

Fashion houses and brands are working on Autumn Winter 2014/15 already and the pre-fall shows have already been and gone, giving us a sneak preview into the fashion future, where the focus was on traditional materials and techniques like tweed, plaid and knitwear.*
