MAC Cosmetics Haul (with a 20% discount off)

Hi! Today I want to share with you some first impressions about my most recent MAC Cosmetics Haul. I had the chance to use a great offer from Coin, an Italian department store which has also a MAC counter. There was a 20% discount off all perfumery brands so I chose to buy something from MAC Cosmetics since I don’t have any discount from them (discount cards are avaible only for pros). Though, that counter was really small so I couldn’t get some pieces from my MAC Cosmetics Wishlist such as a couple of brushes. Since they’re really expensive – and I’m a totally sucker for brushes – it could be a great thing to get them at a discounted price. However there ware some products I wanted from ages and I finally got them.

I do think that MAC Cosmetics permanent range is always too underrated. Everyone is all mad about upcoming new launches, limited editions and search for ‘treasures’ on ebay paying unreasonable prices (not to mention the fact that this is fosting an unfair trade). But MAC Cosmetics has great products among permanent range. Often better than limited edition stuff which is sometimes too… pop?

So, what I bought in this MAC Cosmetics Haul.

There was Fantasy of Flowers collection but nothing caught my attention. I’m not a big fan of mineralize products and I don’t like lustre lipsticks. I was really intrigued by Phlox Garden fluidline but it’s too light and warm to use as eyeliner with my colours. So I ended up to pick Macroviolet fluidline instead which is in my wishlist since… 2007? Lol. Macroviolet is a dark eggplant so more on the warm side than the cool one. Nevertheless it’s not as dark as Bobbi Brown Violet Ink which is a real blackened eggplant. I’m absolutely in love with fluidline formula, Macroviolet is not as intense as Blacktrack but has a great formula too since it does have colour payoff (there are some fluidlines more on the sheer side – just like more recent glittery ones – or with poor colour payoff just like Waveline).

Then I got the last bottle (!) of Face and Body foundation in N1 (= NW15). MAC foundation colours are strange. They’re not so neutral and work more as correcting colours. When it comes to light and fair colours NW have a sort of fluorescent-orangey tone. NC colours have a strong yellow undertone which is good for photography and neutralizes redness. However they’re a bit too yellow under natural light but NC15 (=C1) is light enough to be ok without having a Simpson effect. Unfortunately C1 was sold out but I’m lucky enough to pull out N1 too since I have a warm, pinky-peach undertone. Under natural light is bit too dark and (fluorescent) orangey but it will be ok during summer. By the way, I really like Face and Body foundation and it’s the only MAC foundation that doesn’t break me out. It feels like nothing on your face but gives a beautiful natural finish and evens out entire complexion minimizing discolorations and little imperfections.

Above I made some comparisons: as you can see MAC Face and Body N1 is really similar to L’Oreal Nude Magique 100 Porcelain. They’re both a bit darker than others. My most perfect match is Giorgio Armani Luminous Silk n°2.

Last but not least, Vino lip pencil. MAC lip pencils are brand’s most underrated product ever. They’re a bit expensive but they last a lifetime and you’ll only need a few colours to pair with a large selection of MAC lipsticks. Texture is a perfect mix between hard and smooth. It glides easily on lips but it’s firm enought to avoid any smudge.
