Clinique Chubby Stick Intense Roomiest Rose

Today’s review is about one of the most chatted about beauty products in last years. I’m talking about Clinique Chubby Stick. It is often said that Clinique re-invented the lipstick concept thanks to its iconic chubby stick packaging. And then, almost every brand came out with their chubby stick lipstick version. In fact, Nars created its chubby lip pencil a lot of years earlier. However, Clinique was genius enough to do a rectrable packaging.

First, Clinique came out with Chubby Stick Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm ($17), aka a very sheer lipstick / tinted balm. When I swatched them for the first time I was really perplexed about paying all that money for no-colour and a not-so-moisturizing. I was not very impressed even if everyone was hailing as a miracle.

Then the brand launched Chubby Stick Intense Moisturizing Lip Colour Balm, the same product with an intense colour payoff. After swatching all colours I decided that Roomiest Rose could be a nice flattering deep rose shade.

I tried to love this product. I gave it so many chances but in the end there was no chemistry. It’s not really a bad product, just meh. The rose with berry hues is very pretty but also nothing original. I like when a lipstick makes me feel special. With Roomiest Rose I was feeling just ordinary. Other similar colours I own are way more complex and interesting. I forced myself to finish it and I was so glad when I put an end to it.

The worst part is its formula. The colour payoff is ok but nothing special. It is not creamy, nor satiny. Not comfortable on lips at all. I think it’s even drying, more than a matte lipstick. Where is the ‘loaded with mango and shea butter’?

The only good side is that it is very handy for when you’re in a hurry and it doesn’t need to be sharpened.
