5 Beauty Finds from 2015

Another year has come to an end. Santa has finished his job, I have plenty of books to read, a lot of tea too drink and a brand new Netflix account. You know what I mean. I start this new year with an exciting new job as beauty editor, I’m so glad to be able to talk about beauty even as a (real) job.

Speaking about beauty, my experience of beauty and makeup during 2015 has reached a new awareness. I think I settled on my skincare routine: an Asian inspired routine with an eye to anti-aging action. I think I found my “at my best” look. I discovered my love for all warm-based colours, especially when it comes to eye makeup. I am fond of super matte lips and I prefer natural still flawless base makeup.

So, here there are my 5 Beauty Finds from 2015 😀

MAC Cosmetics Eyeshadows

These are the most underrated powder eyeshadows in the whole world. There was a time when even I was disappointed with them. Be aware: the pigmentation isn’t terrific. However I learned that there are more important features in powder eyeashadows than pigmentation, such as blendability for example. MAC eyeshadows blend effortlessly, you can’t end in ugly blotches with them. They are perfect for building a gradient look without streaks or any other mistake. My favourites? Star Violet, Cranberry, Haux, Soft Brown, Brown Script, Deep Damson.

Nabla Cosmetics Crème Shadows

This a super recent discovery. I am keen on cream eyeshadows, I love MAC Paint Pot, Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream and Maybelline Color Tattoo. It’s always difficult to find creaseless cream eyeshadows so I was a bit skeptical about these Nabla Crème Shadows. After reading so many enthusiastic reviews I gave them a chance. I chose Supreme, the only colour that seemed unique and not dupeable. The texture is smoother than MAC Paint Pot, like a firm mousse. The colour is beautiful, indeed: a pomegranate shade with burgundy undertones. It lasts without creasing all day long even without a base.

MAC Cosmetics Studio Waterweight Foundation

MAC came out with new great foundations in 2015: Prolongwear Nourishing and Studio Waterweight Foundations. The latter won my heart. It may appear similar to Giorgio Armani Maestro but it’s completely different, as you can read here. The texture is weightless, like a liquid gel. It gives a super natural yet flawless result, with a satiny finish. It makes my skin look beautiful, youthful and radiant. It became my staple foundation.

Charlotte Tilbury Matte Revolution Lipsticks

As I said I’m all for matte lips. Charlotte Tilbury came out with an amazing matte lipstick formula called Matte Revolution. It has a thin, lightweight texture. It glides smoothly without enhancing chapped lips’ dry flakes. It doesn’t dry out an it is comfortable to wear. I’d call it a “soft matte” lipstick. The best thing about it is the lasting power, even after a meal it still looks perfect. My favourite of the bunch is Walk of Shame, a warm toned rose with brick undertones.

Kat Von D Beauty Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks

Matte liquid lispticks have been really a thing this year. I found myself madly in love with Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipsticks. It has been quite difficult to be able to find them since I’m Italy based. The formula is excellent: lightweight, comfortable, not excessively drying. They dry in a few seconds in a super matte, velvety finish. They are no-transfer and last well for an entire day, even after rich meals. My favourite colours are Exorcism and Lolita but I love Nosferatu as well.
