Marni AW15-16 – #MFW
The main theme for Marni Aw15-16 collection is a traveller woman, inspired by Inuit people, with a warring, adventurous spirit. A layered look with long lengths, fur details, raw cuts, large plain leather belts. A free spirit who goes direct to life’s essence, Marni maintains its fidelity to its history, since Marni was born as a fur company. I took a look at Marni‘s backstage to find out what hair and beauty trends for next fall winter season – in Marni‘s view – will be.
Hair by Paul Hanlon for Tigi are wild, dramatic, with vigorous waves with a retro mood. Waves seem almost crusty, they look very organic as Marni‘s mood. They look a bit like almost ruined 40’s hair, but super crispy and starched. A sort of tragic Hitchcok hairstyle. These hair are wild but not too savage, you can see the beauty in them.
Make up was created by Tom Pecheux for MAC Cosmetics. His inspiration for this collection is the traveller theme, in more specific the Inuit feeling. The result is a sort of dusty look. There are not a lot of make up, but the focus is on straight eyebrows and straight eyes in order to create a geometrical, rectangular frame. Eyes are very long and extetended. He played with taupe colour to create this rectangular shape around the eyes, adding a little bit of white to enhance the heaviness of the lid. Face is contoured and highlighted for a dewy effect. Lips are pale, painted with a taupey shade. It is a very monochrome look: natural face features are almost concealed in order to create a framed, rectangular shape with a big focus on straight lines in the eyes and on the eyebrows. So wild and free this Marni woman, I really couldn’t help thinking about Into the Wild, with Eddie Vedder‘s songs in the background.
