Aluminium – Fall Winter 2014-15 Colour Trend

Time for another post in Colour Trend series. This time I want to talk about Aluminium, selected by Pantone as a colour trend for fall winter 2014-15. Well, Aluminium is a quite complex colour since it refers to metal. I see Aluminium as a warm greyish platinum. To find some fashion and beauty inspirations I searched metallic finishes for make up in order to obtain a ‘lunar’ effect while I looked for precious fabrics with metallic elements for fashion items.

Here it is what I selected as Aluminium beauty inspirations. I think that Nabla Cosmetics Dreamer is a good option if you think about Aluminium colour. It has a soft pearlized finish and its warm platinum colour with all its reflects can recall a real metallic effect. For lips I could not include MAC Viva Glam Rihanna 2 lipstick: frosty metallic finish and a unique colour, a mix of brown and grey with mauve reflects. On nails I’d suggest Formula X special effect nail polish in Heroic while I’d create a metallic effect to skin using Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector Pressed in Moonstone.

For fashion inspirations I thought about all precious outfits that could recall Aluminium colour. A satin top in a warm metallic colour (this one is from Alberta Ferretti) paired with a super luxurious skirt in tweed lamé embellished with silver sequins (Saint Laurent). If you prefer a one piece outfit I think that this 60’s dress always in tweed lamé by Saint Laurent is absolutely gorgeous. If you dare to wear accessories in the same metallic sparkling style you can choose a precious clutch in brocade with studs and crystal details (this one is from Sergio Rossi) and a pair of exclusive flats, like these ones in textured lamé from Jimmy Choo.
