Cognac – Fall Winter 2014-15 Colour Trend
Let’s continue the Fall Winter 2014-15 Colour Trend posts series. Today it’s time to talk about Cognac. Cognac colour is codified by Pantone as 18-1421 as one of the top trend colours for this season. It’s not a colour that you’d call cognac though. It is a warm taupe with mauve undertones. In other words, one of my favourite colours ever, especially when it comes to eye make up. It is a perfect choice if you love neutral looks. It looks beautiful when paired with other neutrals like a cream colour but I really like it with mustard, such as Misted Yellow.
Pantone says
Similar to Sangria, Cognac’s name alone leads to glamorous illusions. This classy and cultured brown takes a typical autumnal color to a sumptuous realm, making the shade unexpectedly ideal for evening wear
What do you think about this colour? Take a look at my beauty and fashion inspirations.
Cognac Beauty Inspirations
Well, here we have plenty of choices. I tried to collect all best – in my opinion – neutral palettes that recalls Cognac colour. And no, I didn’t choice any of Urban Decay Naked palettes 😛 There are a lot of amazing options out there if you are all for a neutral eye make up. Maybe I have to write a Taupe Love article, what do you think?
In this selection we have eyeshadow palettes in different size options. On top square compact palettes such as Too Faced Natural Eye Neutral Eye Shadow Collection and Bobbi Brown Nude on Nude (gosh I want this one so much!). Long sleek palettes such as infamous Lorac Pro original palette and the underrated Clarins The essentials palette. Then two quads, one from Illamasqua Complement Palette with Metallic Shades for all skin tones and super luxurious Tom Ford Eye Color Quad in Orchid Haze.

Cognac Fashion Inspirations
As fashion inspirations it was quite difficult not too choose ‘classic’ cognac – leather colour so I sticked to taupe shades. These are all accessories to pair with other neutral light colours or something more bold such as oxblood. So, we have a urban chic look with beanie, sunglasses, flat boots, scarf and two items I really like: a bracelet watch and a mini leather bag with shoulder straps by Mulberry from Cara Delevingne collection.
