MAC A Novel Romance Lipsticks Haul
As I said in this post where I talked about A Novel Romance collection’s preliminary info and colour story, I’ve been really excited about this collection for many reasons: its concept, its colour story, it’s all ages all races all sexes collection anniversary, it’s a fall collection. I was really afraid that A Novel Romance lipsticks were going to be sold out quickly, so I hurried up to order them from my local store by phone.
I really have to thank lovely MUA Chiara for her precious advices. I was worried that I may already have some dupes after reading some first impressions on web but in the end I am very happy with my purchase, since I don’t own anything too similar.
As A Novel Romance lipsticks I got Hearts Aflame and Lingering Kiss. They are both mattes and they’re, of course, limited edition.

They’re both in the browinsh, deep red colour family. Quite vampy, I’d dare to say. The inspiration is clearly 90s but to me they recall 80’s post punk / gothic rock, think about Siouxsie.
Hearts Aflame is a deep red with a really strong brown undertone. You really have to love old fashioned lipstick to love it and a warm complexion to pull it off.

As you can see Hearts Aflame is really different from MAC Diva and Viva Glam I. I read someone saying that they could be dupes but Hearts Aflame is nothing similar. Diva is deeper and more burgundy with a more purple undertone. Viva Glam I compared to Hearts Aflame appears almost britght even if is quite deep on its own. It’s also a lot lighter and without all that brown undertone.
Lingering Kiss is the vampy one among A Novel Romance lipsticks family. It is a dark and deep eggplant, with brown undertones and a bit of purple in it. It is warmer and darker than Nars Volga and completely different from MAC Instigator which is a lot more purple. It is really similar to Chanel L’Impatiente which was a limited edition, but Chanel is less deep and with less colour payoff. Even the finish is slightly different.

Both Hearts Aflame and Lingering Kiss are mattes but they seem having a satin texture. It is extremely difficult to find dark, burgundy lipsticks with a nice texture, especially for a colour as Lingering Kiss, but these ones glides on extremely even. They have an amazing staying power and don’t bleed but I still recommend using a lip liner to achieve a perfect lips contour.
Davvero bellli entrambi, Hearts aflame in particolare è splendido, dal comunicato stampa me lo immaginavo molto diverso.

Sono proprio innamorata di entrambi! Secondo me sono colori davvero ben riusciti, se piace il genere.
Sono molto belli… una collezione che avrei razziato! Mi sono limitata “solo” a Good Kisser e Lingering Kiss, Hearts Aflame è stupendo ma troppo simile a Studded Kiss, nonostante ciò ci sto ancora rimuginando, sono colori con cui anche io vado a nozze >_<
Belli anche ombretti e matite e su tutti il blush, ma niente che mi abbia rapito al punto di aprire (ancora) il portafogli 😀
Ecco, io avevo saltato Studded Kiss perché mi sembrava troppo simile a Diva, ma Hearts Aflame è proprio un altro sottotono. Ovviamente io uso a pacchi questi colori, quindi sono anche più propensa ad avere colori simili 😀
Non sono ancora riuscita a vedere la collezione in store, mi incuriosiscono molto ombretti e matite!
Lingering kiss è molto elegante, davvero bello…ma tanto non lo troverò mai XD
L’altro è in effetti parecchio caldo, mi sembra un po’ retrò, ha la sua bellezza ma non rispecchia i miei gusti e non credo lo userei.
Non disperare, secondo me le razzie sono andate via via diminuendo 😀
Hearts Aflame è davvero molto marrone, deve proprio piacere.
