Cremesheen + Pearl Sunny Seoul MAC Lipstick: my review
As you all know MAC Cosmetics has several finishes in its lipstick range. You can take a look at all my MAC Cosmetics lipsticks in this post where is also a little description and my personal thoughts about all finishes. Cremesheen + Pearl line is a rather recent add to MAC Cosmetics permanent range. They first came out in 2012, only two years ago. However these are not completely new lipsticks: MAC Cosmetics unite Cremesheen finish – already present in permanent range – with a Pearl one. In other words, these are Cremesheen lipsticks with a little pearlized finish. But there’s not so much pearl to make them frosty. Pearl finish is indeed really subtle. I think that this has been one of the most underrated lipstick launch from MAC Cosmetics. I have to admit that when they came out I wasn’t impressed, at all. That was the moment when bold, bright or vampy lipsticks began to be one of the biggest – and prettiest – beauty trend in a long time. And surprisingly MAC Cosmetics launched these Cremesheen + Pearl: sheer to medium pigment, light, pastel and natural colours. To me – and to everyone else – this was as a big fail.
So, I never took either a look at them in the store. Then, MAC Archie’s Girls collection came out and Betty Bright lipstick with it. I wanted it so bad. But unfortunately Betty Bright sold out immediately and I couldn’t buy it. I wanted a natural, warm peachy pink lipstick that could shout Spring! Some time after I went to the store because I had to do a Back2MAC. I explained the MUA what I was looking for and she suggest Cremesheen + Pearl Sunny Seoul.

I was a bit skeptical in the beginning because I’m not a super fan of Cremesheen but this colour was excatly what I was thinking about. Plus, it suddenly reminded me of Betty Bright: the same balanced mix of warm pink, with a touch of peach and coral. When I made some online research they are confirmed of being dupes. The biggest difference is – of course – in their finish: Betty Bright is a Satin and delivers full pigment colours, it is really bold and bright. Cremesheen + Pearl Sunny Seoul is a lot more subtle even if it is a little bright on its own, sheerer and with a sheen. In the end I’m not disappointed with the formula: I think it’s better than regular Cremesheen: it didn’t melt during hot days, stays on a little longer and doesn’t emphasize fine lines. It is a staple for spring – summer days and it has decent colour payoff even on medium pigmented lips.
