Mac Moxie is part of By Request collection, the collection based on most beloved Mac products which were discontinued. For By Request collection Mac asked customers what products they’d loved to be repromoted and Moxie Lipstick was one of the winners.
Moxie first launch was with Retro Matte collection in 1999. Retro Matte was a lipsticks collection, all of them with a super matte finish. The well known Ruby Woo became permanent.
I own Ruby Woo and I can say it’s my all time favourite lipsticks, not also because of its gorgeous colour but also for its Retro Matte finish, which I find stunning.
On my lips Retro Matte formula is not so drying as I often read online. It stays on my lips all day long, not kidding. I prefer using a lip brush to apply, because I can work it better into my lips. It is also better using a lip pencil with this kind of “important” formula but I have to say that I hadn’t any issue nor with Ruby Woo nor with Moxie.
These lipsticks are a statement. They say who you are, so it’s better that you know it 😉
I find Moxie a bit easier to work with than Ruby Woo. It’s soft and comfortable on lips. It stays there until you remove it, so no bleeding at all. It remains perfect even after eat and drink.
Moxie is a quite well balanced magenta, leading towards warm than cool tone. Some say it’s similar to Impassioned: yes, they’re similar but not dupes. Moxie is cooler than Impassioned, even if on me Impassioned is not as coral as I saw sometimes on other people.
I never loved fuchsia lipsticks, I find them really difficul to wear. Maybe I hadn’t found “my” fuchsia. Well, now I wear Moxie all of the time, in any occasion and even on mornings: it goes well with everything and it brightens my whole face.
So, if you can still find it don’t let it go 😉
