MAC Roxo Lipstick – Pedro Lourenço Collection

I usually don’t pay too much attention to MAC Cosmetics special packaging collections because they often sold out in no time and I am not a sucker for collectible packagings. Furthermore I have so many products in my make up stash that in many cases I already have similar products and I don’t want to make a fuss for getting the it product from a limited edition collection.

Nevertheless I’ve been really impressed by MAC Pedro Lourenço Collection, a limited edition in collaboration with the well known fashion designer. I really liked the eyeshadow quad with all those rose gold neutrals but I skipped it since I already have similar tones in my Urban Decay Naked 3 palette. Then I immediately fell in love with Roxo lipstick, that kind of sultry wine shade that drives me crazy.

Since MAC Roxo lipstick was the it product from this collection, it sold out immediately online and I had no chance to go to some MAC stores but I read online that it was sold out pretty everywhere. I have to thanks my friend Misato (take a look at her lovely blog here) because she searched it in Rome for me, helplessly though.

However the other day I went to a MAC counter in Milan and I never expected to find MAC Roxo anymore. It was by mere chance that I found out that there was the last MAC Roxo lipstick (and a special thank to the super kind MUA).

I previously read online that MAC Roxo lipstick was a dupe for Diva, despite their different finishes. Diva is a matte, while Roxo is an amplified. I compared them at the counter and they are not dupes at all. I reconfirmed it at home since I already own Diva (you can take a look to all my MAC lipsticks here).

As you can see MAC Roxo is lighter, less oxblood, less brown and less warm. It has a touch of plum in it and it is definitely more berry and more ruby than Diva. Plus, one is completely matte and the other is creamy with a sheen. I also made a comparison with Lime Crime Velvetine Wicked which is comparable to Diva.

What about my first impressions about it? MAC Roxo lipstick has the same great qualities than other amplified lipsticks: full pigment, comfort and lips and very good lasting power.
