Today’s review is about the latest Real Techniques launch: the Magic Complexion Sponge*.

Samantha Chapman extend her range to other make up accessories than brushes and launches a sponge to apply and blend foundation, really similar to the infamous Beauty Blender. I never tried the Beauty Blender since I’ve always found that it is far way pricey for a make up sponge, so I can’t compare that with the Magic Complexion Sponge.

I’ve been so lucky to receive the Magic Complexion Sponge from the UK site Beautychamber in order to express my opinions about it in a review.

Magic Complexion Sponge

The first good point is the price: the Magic Complexion Sponge is only £4.99, a lot cheaper than Beauty Blender.

This is what is stated about the Magic Complexion Sponge:

Great looks start with a flawless base.  This peach makeup blending sponge will redefine your skin, it’s versatile design evenly blends your makeup for a smooth enhanced finish. The sponge is precision sculpted to compliment facial contours and features. The sponge will expand when wet. Rinse after each use for hygiene reasons.

This sponge is thought to apply foundation and blending it. What I like the most is its structure: it’s oveal but with sculpted angles in order to reach easily every face’s angle and feature. In fact I have a small face and with Magic Complexion Sponge I can apply foundation around my nose and under eyes with precision. Therefore I think it’s perfect to apply concealer too.

Magic Complexion Sponge apply foundation very easily, just like as you have a perfectly primed canvas. It glides on smoothly without leaving any cakeness or streaks. It’s almost unbelievable: I didn’t wear any primer to test this product but it applies foundation just like if you have already a (great!) primer on.

Plus, the coverage is high and still extremely natural. I used Magic Complexion Sponge dry and wet: the application is great in both ways, when you use it dry you have high coverage, when use it wet you have full coverage, but in any way you won’t look cakey or “fake” because it blends foundation deeply into skin.

I used it not only with liquid foundation, but also with BB cream (Missha Real Signature), compact cream foundation (Radiant Cream Compact Foundation by Nars) and mineral foundation (Meow cosmetics): the result is great with each type of foundation you use.

I’m so so happy with this product that I can’t think to apply my foundation with a brush anymore!
