Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow: review
To celebrate its 30th anniversary this fall Make Up For Ever completely renewed its eye shadow range, you can read all details with all new eyeshadows’ colours here. Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow has not only a new packaging but a brand new formula as well.
Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow comes in 5 new different finishes: Diamond, Satin, Metallic, Shimmery and Matte.
I tried some Make Up For Ever eyewshadows in the past and I was impressed by their great quality so I was really curious to try new Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow range.
I received two Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow colours: ME – 554* and S – 924*. As you can see, they are identified by finish (S, ME, I, M, D) and a number like the old ones. Mind that new numbers don’t match old ones since all colours have been completely renewed!
Each Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow has also a colour name besides its number identification. Let’s start to see in detail ME – 554 Gunmetal. You all know how much I love all these taupe tones. ME – 554 Gunmetal is a really complex colour somehow difficult to describe. I’d say it has a taupe base, as to say a mix of grey and brown with a platinum reflect. I’d describe it as a shade with strong cool – almost mauve – reflects on a warm base. I really can’t say if it’s a warm or cool shade because it is a mix in between. Its finish is Metallic and its texture is extremely rich, almost creamy. It goes on smooth on skin with maximum pigmentation even without any base. It blends really easily without any effort. On me it lasts well for about 10 hours without primer even in the heat while I was sweating. It is really a unique colour, I couldn’t find anything similar in my eyeshadow collection. Despite its metallic finish it isn’t too frosty though.
Nabla Dreamer – MUFE ME – 554 – Nabla Interference
Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow S – 924 seems to be the reformulation of infamous matte 92, the most iconic eyeshadow in Make Up For Ever range. But there is a huge difference: old 92 eyeshadow was a matte as I said, while the new Artist Shadow has a Satin finish. There is a little mistery about its name: on Sephora US site there isn’t this colour but a similar one: S – 922 described as Electric Purple. On Sephora French site there is S – 924 identified as Violet and so it is here in Italy. I knew that there some difference between European and American colours so I don’t really know if S – 924 is sold in US. I haven’t the old version so I’m sorry but I can’t compare them. Usually purple eyeshadow are a bit tricky. They often have poor pigmentation and a hard texture to work with. When I first swatched S – 924 I feared I picked up a little of colour. Then I realized that pigmentation is really great but it has an extremely thin texture, so finely milled that it feels nothing onto skin. It doesn’t feel as an eyeshadow put over your skin but it seems that the colour comes from the inside of your skin. I’ve never seen a similar effect before. Colour is a very warm purple (and it looks cool in the pan!) and I can see a magenta undertone. Unlike the old version it doesn’t stain your lids. Texture is smooth, easy to work with and very blendable. Lasting power is also great, even without a primer: it started to fade only at the end of the day when worn without a base.
MAC Nocturnelle – UD Flash – MUFE S – 924 – Nabla Prerogative
Make Up For Ever Artist Shadow range has ones of the best eyeshadows out there, I highly recommend to check them out. They are available at Sephora and they come in a 2.5g packaging (but you can also buy them as refills for customizable palettes for the same quantity of product).

vorrei vedere il violone anche vicino a Cattleya, sembra una via di mezzo tra lui e Prerogative… è fighissimo.
E che non sia matte per me potrebbe essere un bene, ho scoperto che i matte di MUFE hanno dentro il boron nitride ;________;
ti han mandato due colori bellissimi e azzeccatissimi…
Ti faccio il confronto appena riesco 😉
Davvero, mi sono riguardata tutti i colori e questi due sono proprio quelli che mi piacciono di più…
