I didn’t think I would love the Naked 3 palette, the latest launch by Urban Decay for the Naked family. As I said in my previous post about first pictures when Naked 3 appeared on the web, I’m not a girly girl so I was really skeptical about these pink based palette I usually hate pink eyeshadows since they’re always too girly or Barbie-like.
Here in Italy we all expected the Naked 3 palette coming out at Sephora‘s on 16th December so I’ve been really surprised two days ago when I saw it in a Sephora store in Milan (c.so Vittorio Emanuele). They’ve been just arrived in store and there was any tester yet, so I asked a salesgirl if she could open one for me to see Naked 3 in real life, finally. And I immediatly knew that I’d love it so much. Especially with a 20% off coupon.
On the internet swatches Naked 3 looked far too pink that it is in reality. I’d say there’s a great selection of rosy neutrals and warm taupes. Three shades are matte, three are glittery and the others are satin-metallics. Urban Decay eyeshadows have the best quality as always: they’re pigmented, they last well even without primer, they’re like butter and blend effortlessly. The glittery eyeshadows – Buzz and Trick – are not too gritty and if you use a primer you won’t experience any fall out. The only shade with which I’m disappointed is Dust: is the most pink-girly shade but it doesn’t have any colour payoff at all and this is quite surprisingly by Urban Decay! It’s a semi-translucent shade full of glitters. I think that Dust is a well thought name: if you like things such as fairies dust etc. maybe you’ll love it but it’s not for me.
But the fundamental question is: do you need Naked 3 palette if you already have another Naked (1 or 2) or both Naked palettes?
The answer is no if you want a no make up make up palette, therefore you’ll need matte shades and here you have a lot of shimmer.
The answer is yes if you love neutrals and you have a skintone that matches well with warm, rosy taupes.
As you know – see this post – I already own Naked and Naked 2 palettes. I use them both even if now I regret having bought the Naked 2 especially when Naked Basics came out because the shades I love the most in Naked 2 pallet are the matte ones. The other shades are not so different than Naked original ones and there are a couple of silvers and greys that look horrible with my skintone.
I think that Naked 3 shades are not universally flattering, they’re quite unique shades for which I can’t think about any dupe. I’m luckly enough because I have the right skintone to look great in these kind of rosy taupes, because I have a warm pink, quite peachy undertone. So, Naked 3 shades are the ones that look best on me, a lot better than Naked original and Naked 2. I didn’t even know I could look so great with these Naked 3 colours!
naked 2 – naked 3 – naked original
I can understand if you are overwhelmed by all this Naked thing but if you like warm taupes I think that Naked 3 is the best purchase for you: great quality eyeshadows, new and unique shades, reasonable price for what you get.

This is my favourite naked palette. stunning! hoping to find it in my stocking 😉
