This year Nars Cosmetics for Nars Fall 2014 Collection celebrates its 20° Anniversary.

Nars Cosmetics History

Here it some history about Nars Cosmetics and its creative director, François Nars.

 

• 70’s: François Nars was born in Midi, Southern France. Obsessed with fashion and beauty he attended Carita’s make up school in Parise until 1977.
• 80’s: he begins to collaborate with Olivier Echau. In 1984 François moves to New York City. He works with Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar and Elle.
• 90’s: François works at fashion shows with Karl Lagerfeld, Marc Jacobs, Dolce & Gabbana and Anna Sui. Advertise campaigns with Versace, Calvin Klein, Ralph Lauren and Barneys New York. He begins to create make up for various stars, such as Madonna. In 1994 he launches 12 iconic lipsticks at Barneys, then Nars Cosmetics was born. Thanks to its great passion for photography he took all the shoots for its first Nars campaign. In 1996 he creates its Multiple and in 1999 the infamous Orgasm which becomes immediately a cult.
• 2000: François buy Moty Tané island which is a great source of inspiration. Nars Cosmetics is bought by Shiseido Cosmetics. In 2001 Makeup Your Mind book was launched. In 2002 François launches its skincare range NARSskin. In 2009 François goes back to catwalks and creates 65 looks for his friend Marc Jacobs. In 2011 Makeup Your Mind: Express Yourself hits book stores. In the same year Nars has his first flagship store in New York City, 413 Bleecker Street. In 2013 he realizes Faery Lands, photos taken at Motu Tané.

 

Audacious Lipstick Collection

To celebrate its 20° Anniversary and its first 12 iconic lipsticks with wich Nars Cosmetics was born, François Nars launches for Nars Fall 2014  Collection the Audacious Lipstick Collection: a collection of bold, rich lipsticks for statement lips. Amazingly rich in pigment and full coverage, they grant volume and hydration. With a new magnetic packaging, there will be available 24 colours, inspiried by the most iconic women for François Nars.

François Nars chooses Charlotte Rampling as the new testimonial for Nars Cosmetics. This is an unconventional choice indeed. Charlotte Rampling represents a more sophisticated beauty’s concept, bounded with inner strenght and the timeless beauty which her eyes evokes.
