OCC Lip Tar – Lydia
It’s time for a negative review regarding an old, cult product, that is OCC Lip Tar. I’m usually really careful when it comes to my beauty buys since I know myself, my skin, my tastes and I read a lot of review before making up my mind. I like high quality products and I hate wasting my money.
Well, OCC Lip Tar is a product welcomed by a high hype, at least some years ago. Everyone seemed to love them, when liquid lipsticks were still a mysterious thing. Plus, they were not available in Italy so I was really fascinated by this foreign brand. I managed to get my OCC Lip Tar by a UK reseller at a very high price. I chose Lydia, a plummy mauve shade that looked lovely on the swatches.
Unfortunately, this colour looked horrible on me. I really don’t know why, because I can wear both cool and warm undertones since I’m quite neutral. Plus, dark, plummy shades suit me so nicely. It made my look dead, like a zombie, with a disgusting livid tone to my lips. Beware that I happily pull off super dark, vampy colours, even black. It’s not an odd colour but it simply doesn’t go well with my colouring.
The OCC Lip Tar packaging is quite inconvenient. You have to apply the product from the tube with a brush – a little brush actually is included. You have to use the tiniest amount of product or you’ll experience the worst bleeding in your entire life, since there is a lot of oil in it. However, if dabbed onto your lips the finish and the result is really lovely (if only the colour could suited me better).
However, the worst thing about OCC Lip Tar is a terrible separation I experienced after a few months. This is really strange and disappointing since I always keep my beauty products in the safest place, preventing them from humidity and heat. Everyone has experienced the same?
