Paris Fashion Week 2013 has just ended so we are now able to figure out what clothes we will see in the shopping windows the next spring-summer season, or at least what trends will be on top. My idea of fashion is that we are not fashion victimes, we’re not passive elements on which brands can do and undo; we’re not mannequins, we don’t deserve being manipulated because we are human being with our personal concepts of beauty, fashion and style.
Stylists express their creativity, their art, their point of view as they want; the choice of follow their ideas is up to us. Fashion should be a way to show the world who we are and there’s no one who can told us who or how we have to be.
So, in this post you’ll see only stylists and creations I liked that are in line with my idea of style of this Paris Fashion Week 2013. So you may not see some top designers in this post since I chose to show only what I liked the most.
I’m not fond of world of fashion, too many controversies and too many things with which I disagree, still I love fashion – read clothes, style – itself. And these are my personal highlights from Paris Fashion Week 2013. Overall I have to say that Paris is always the top-notch.
Let’s start with Chanel which reinvent its classic tweed suit, then Collette Dinnigan chooses femininity with basic colours in black and white and touches of bright full colours. Comme de Garçons is pure avant-gard while Dévastée prefers simplicity with high wearability. Elie Saab is all about lace, embroderies and chiffon; Gareth Pugh brings us on a space ship; Isabel Marant is fully springful. Jean Paul Gaultier embraces the bad girl and the rock chick soul and Junya Watanabe dreams about an alternative woman with a plenty of fringes. Lanvin chooses a super luxury appeal with rich and metallic textiles, Nina Ricci is simply, elegant and feminine with soft colours, Olympia Le-Tan enjoys the pin up 50’s style with the nautical theme. Saint Laurent classic style mixes up femininity with male blazers; Tsumori Chisato reinvent traditional oriental style; Undercover dreams about a bad girl in some Tarantino movie; Valentino recall an antique and opulent costume art. Rick Owens offered an amazing show with a tribal dance, but the biggest surprise from the Paris Fashion Week 2013 is the announcement that Marc Jacobs leaves Luois Vuitton after 16 years. Here it is Marc Jacob’s letter in which he say thanks to his inspirations (thanks to Harper’s Bazzar):
