Purple Cream Shadows
I have to apologyze for the poor quality of these photos but I had this post about my purple cream shadows in my drafts from ages and I didn’t have a good camera yet. I couldn’t retake these photos because in the meantime I gave away a couple of these products.
So, let’s talk about purple cream shadows. I do love purple. I think it’s my favourite colour and I always struggle to find the perfect purple shade in all make up categories: eyeshadows, eyeliners etc. This time I want to talk about cream shadows only.
Purple it’s an extremely difficult colour due to its pigment. Even if the product has a top notch quality, the same product in purple shade has usually lower performances.
These are all purple cream shadows I’ve tried so far.
Left to right: kiko long lasting stick eyeshadow n°16, urban decay 24/7 shadow pencil delinquent, maybelline color tattoo endless purple, make up for ever aqua cream n°19
As you can see, two are cream shadows in pencil form while the others are classic cream shadows in a pot.
- Kiko Cosmetics Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadow n° 16. Now a lot of brands have their cream stick eyeshadows (Laura Mercier, Bobbi Brown, Jouer Cosmetics etc.). I really like Kiko Cosmetics Long Lasting Stick Eyeshadows: they are super cheap and they come in a great variety of colours. On me they don’t crease and are completely smudgeproof. On the downside they are extremely difficult to blend and those ones with glitters – just like this one – may cause some irritations to your eyes, especially if you put them onto your waterline. This one is a light to medium purple with silvery glitters. Colour payoff is quite good in one layer.
- Urban Decay 24-7 Glide-On Shadow Pencil in Delinquent. One of my all time eye base / eye liner favourite. Pigmentation is amazing and it glides on smoothly on lids. It is a deep purple with pink / lavender shimmers. Despite the glitters I can use it nearby my waterline without any trouble. I love it as a classic eye liner, eye base or as simple cream shadow all over the lid. It lasts all day long without fading.
- Maybelline Color Tattoo 24h in Endless Purple. It is the cooler purple from the bunch. I love all my Maybelline Colour Tattoos but I couldn’t love this one as well. It has poor colour payoff and it doesn’t go even. I’ve always had a lot of troubles in applying it without patches.
- Make Up For Ever Aqua Cream n°19. I think that this is the most beautiful purple ever. It has a strong warm base with a cooler pearl. As you can see from the photo above it is somewhat tricky. If you don’t pay attention it could be patchy and uneven. It needs to be worked on a bit with a synthatic brush (or warmed up with your fingers), then you have to apply carefully in small quantities and go on in layering. It is completely smudgeproof and waterproof, it lasts perfectly even in the worst heat.
