Sand: Spring – Summer 2014 Colour Trend
Let’s continue with my post series about Spring – Summer 2014 Colour Trends. This time I want to talk about Sand, codified by Pantone as 15-1225. At first sight there’s no terrific novelty in a Sand (beige) colour for hot season. So it’s more a recovery of a classic, timeless trend. An uber classy colour, that goes with everything and it’s perfect in every occasion. It makes me think of Grace Kelly, walking on the coast in French Riviera.
Despite its supposed perfection the Sand colour could risk to appear too boring, plain and anonimous. If you choose a total look in Sand you must pay attention to accessories and choosing unique and distinctive details. Below you can see some Sand fashion inspirations selected by me. A nice pair of beige shorts is a staple in every summer look, they look a lot more classy than traditional jeans hot pants. These ones are from Pull&Bear but you can find them everywhere at a decent price. Pair them with some less conventional shoes than skaters or sandals. Opt for a cut-out ankle boots (these are from Zara) or, if you prefer a preppy look, a pair of classic oxfords, all in Sand. Then play with accessories: a nice watch (this one is a Fossil one), statement sunglasses with a vintage appeal or some colour co-ordinated jewellry. If you want to play safe invest in a timeless it bag. This one is from Marni and you’ll use it everytime everywhere for a long time. A big trend at this moment is the mannequin manicure, aka nude nails; a great shade for this is Samoan Sand from OPI.
What do you think about Sand colour and this ‘colourless’ trend?
