Sephora Colorful 5 Palette – n°6 Pale to Rich Taupe
I’ve already shown Sephora Colorful 5 Palette* in my Sephora Fall 2014 Press Day post. Sephora Colorful 5 Palettes are part of Sephora Fall 2014 collection. It is an eyeshadow palette with 5 colours in 8 colour ranges. I received Sephora Colorful 5 Palette in n°6 Pale to Rich Taupe, definitely my cup of tea. Colours available are quite good, with a lot of choices if you love neutral shades. There is one palette for smoky eyes, two colourful – blue and purple based – and 5 more neutral palettes, from plums to taupes to bronzes and khakis with an all-mattes neutral palette.
Packaging is very handy, a sleek plastic compact with a see through top to show colours. This palette is perfect for travelling, since it’s even smaller than Urban Decay Naked Basics! Inside there is a small mirror and a double sided applicator: one side is a sponge applicatore and the other is an angled brush. So, you’ll have the essentials for a quick eye make up in your travel make up bag.
Sephora Colorful 5 Palette has a small packaging but eyeshadows are not so small, for a total 5 grams of product.
Well, let’s talk about Sephora Colorful 5 Palette n°6 Pale to Rich Taupe colours. Another neutral ‘nude’ palette? Well, I’da say I’m a sort of an expert in this matter since I already own all UD Naked palettes (yes. except for Naked Basics 2, it’s really too much even for me) + tons of neutral based eyeshadows / palettes from almost every brand. Nevertheless, when I saw Sephora Colorful 5 Palette n°6 I didn’t think ‘oh my gosh no, how boring’. The first thing that came to my mind is the resemblance with Marc Jacobs Beauty Lolita palette. What a daring comparison. Of course there are a lot of differences – there is no colour dupes – but I think that there are some similiarities and in many senses Sephora Colorful 5 Palette is a better choice than Lolita.
Well, in both palettes there are neutral colours with a warm taupe hue. Lolita has 7 shades, while Sephora palette has 5 shades. Of course there’s a big difference in price: Lolita is €53.50 and Sephora is €19.90.
Lolita palette has 3 matte shades, 3 pearlized and one glittery. Sephora Colorful 5 Palette has 3 satin / pearlized shades, one matte and one glittery.
I really love Marc Jacobs Beauty line but when I swatched Lolita it has been a high disappointment. Colour payoff wasn’t terrific and the glittery shade was simply a great mess. A horrible mess, since I was covered in huge chunky glitters everywhere. You’ll find fall outs even on other shades. And I have the same effect everytime I try to swatch it.
Sephora Colorful 5 Palette has the nicest neutral shades selection for a complete make up: one light / highlighter shade, one light-medium bronzey taupe, one dark taupe and a matte coffee brown, which also good to use as eyeliner or for brows. Glittery shade is not so bad: very little fall out and glitters are quite small. Colour payoff is surprisingly good! I do think that Sephora products have improved a lot during years. On me these colours started fading after 6 hours without an eye primer but with my primer they last all day long without any problem, even in the heat.
