Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque

Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque is the second mask I’ve tried from this brand. Previously I owned Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque and I really liked it but I needed something stronger for my hormonal breakouts.

Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque can be properly considered as a stronger, more effective version of Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque. Though more effective doesn’t mean more aggressive on skin. Unlike the Parsley Seed Cleansing Masque, the Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque comes in a little glass pot. I think that its packaging is the downside of this product. The glass pot is quite small but considerably heavy and not so hygienical like a mask in a tube. Nevertheless, many facial masks come in a pot. To keep all hygienical I always pick up the product with a synthetic brush (or you can use a spatula, Sephora recently has come out with a spatula specific for facial masks).

Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque is a clay based facial mask. The main ingredient is kaolin, I think that it is pink kaolin clay since it has a strong pink tint. Even if it’s mainly based on clay it doesn’t feel dry at all, it is pretty viscous when you apply it so you can really feel all essential oils in it. This is one of my favourite facial mask for combination and acne prone skin.

Here it is complete ingredients list:

Water (Aqua), Kaolin, Bentonite, Alcohol Denat., Glycerin, Oenothera Biennis (Evening Primrose) Oil, Rosa Canina Fruit Oil, Phenoxyethanol, Citrus Medica Limonum (Lemon) Peel Oil, Ormenis Multicaulis Oil, Rosmarinus Officinalis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Melaleuca Alternifolia (Tea Tree) Leaf Oil, Salvia Officinalis (Sage) Oil, Leptospermum Petersonii Oil, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, d-Limonene.

As you can see there are a lot of botanycal extracts which help to purify skin and calm blemishes and irritations. It is described as an astringent mask but this is different from every astringent product I’ve tried so far. It really purifies skin without leaving the skin dry nor thin: it means that it doesn’t absorb all your natural oil so you won’t have a rebound effect.

You can use Aesop Chamomile Concentrate Anti-Blemish Masque once or twice a week if you have a troubled skin. I leave it for about 20 minutes and then I rinse it off. It doesn’t dry quickly so it’s not a pain to remove. I can see that it leaves my skin clean, purified and smooth. It really reduces blemishes’ redness and inflammation. It has an herbaceous smell like the other products from this brand but I quite like it since it gives the feel of an organic, completely natural product.

Of course, it is really pricey. It costs €41 for only 60ml which is a tiny amount. Luckly I bought it on Beautyexpert with a huge discount code (I suggest to keep an eye on their promotions, there are often great bargains).
