I’m Isola Marras AW15-16 #MFW
Antonio Marras has always the exceptional ability to take you with him on its imaginary trip. He can make you feel and live his every concept as a dream.
The inspiration for I’m Isola Marras AW15-16 collection is a surrealistic version of Twin Peaks world and the scenary is a wood. As for I’m Isola Marras AW15-16 woman, imagine a an dreamlike combo of Laura Ingalls from the Little House on the Prairie, Laura Palmer from iconic David Lynch‘s work and Carroll‘s Alice in Wonderland. Following Lynch‘s view which is particularly clear in Twin Peaks‘s underrated second season ant that will be a permanent feature in all his mature works – you have to watch al the underrated elements in Twin Peaks and Fire Walk with Me to completely understand Inland Empire, believe me -, innocent and creepy are mixed togheter. In this deep, darkened wood Good and Evil are struggling to achieve the supremacy in human mind and there will be salvation, redemption for the Innocent, the victim, only in a dreamlike dimension. You can see an echo of Lynch’s world even in recent series, such as True Detective or British Broadchurch. And now his influence is also on fashion world, thanks to Marras creations.
I was able to attend the backstage with MAC Cosmetics and Nails & Beauty on Twin Peaks‘ creepy and fashinating soundtrack’s notes.
As for nails, Antonio Sacripante told me about the Twin Peaks inspiration and the idea to evoke the forest atmosphere. He created a dark forest green base with a shiny finish, then he dabbed a very little sponge soaked with a light green matte shade to create the effect of rain falling on leaves. He completed the nail art dabbing a little more of dark green shade to add a 3D effect. A stunning nail art, simple to re-create at home too.
Then Senior Artist Michele Magnani told me about his inspirations for the make up look to tell Antonio Marras‘ story.
He takes us in the wood and he makes us bumping into three different people: Laura Ingalls meets Laura Palmer and they finally arrive at Alice in Wonderland’s house. We wanted to create with make up a fresh little girl with a few foundation as a base, with a lot of freckles and red cheeks from running in the wood. Wild and natural, almost unkept eyebrows, eyes are barely enhanced with a natural brown such as Groundwork Paint Pot. There is no mascara, eyelashes are curled only. Red cheeks are created with a Casual Colour that is also used on lips. Lips are then intensified with a brand new product which is going to be launched next season: Retro Matte Liquid Lipstick in a deep red. It is used to give the effect of bitten lips from cold, blended from the inside towards the outside with a cotton swab. I also used to new products which will be launched soon: a Mineralize hydrating primer, that feels almost as a serum, then a new Waterweight foundation which we’re testing right now, it has a satin, transparent finish with a lightweight texture. As a concealer we used Mineralize concealer, Mineralize Loose Foundation as powder only where needed. With Eye Brows pencils – Fling, Spiked and Lingering – we created freckles and little imperfections. We used Eye Gloss in Lightly Taupe only in the inner corner of the eye.
