MAC Viva Glam I Lipstick
MAC Cosmetics Viva Glam I appeared for the first time in 1994 with its first disruptive testimonial Ru Paul. Every year there is a new Viva Glam testimonial that launches a new limited edition lipstick, usually along with a lipglass limited edition as well. For past two years we’ve seen Viva Glam Rihanna I and II and now we’re waiting for Viva Glam Miley Cyrus. In U.S. it has been already launched but here in Italy is going to hit stores probably on 12th of February: here you can see my review with swatches and comparison.
Although there is always a great excitement for these limited edition Viva Glam launches, we don’t have to forget that there are 6 beautiful Viva Glam lipsticks in permanent range. One of this is the first Viva Glam lipstick ever released, Viva Glam I lipstick indeed.
Viva Glam I
I always want to remind that every cent of the selling price of Viva Glam goes toward helping women, men and children living with and affected by HIV/AIDS. Here you can read all informations about MAC AIDS Fund and here it is one of the most recent project, It’s not over.
Viva Glam I lipstick is described as a burgundy red with a matte finish. I’d say it is an oxblood red, with a strong brown undertone. I didn’t say it is a warm red in common sense since it doesn’t lead towards orange but its warmth comes from its very brown undertone. It is particularly evident on cool skintones, while on warm skintones it only appears as a dark, deep, sultry red with a burgundy base. It always remind me of those decadent, brocade, velvet curtains. Yes, decadent is the right word to describe it: so classy and so retro. Before trying Viva Glam I lipstick I thought I had found *my red lipstick* with Ruby Woo but – even if I still adore the latter – Viva Glam I gives me that deep, mysterious aura. It is *my perfect red lipstick*, it suits my colours and my personality as well: when I wear it my entire complexion is enhanced.

Matte formula is my favourite one: it lasts all day without touch-ups even after a meal. Plus it doesn’t bleed you don’t need a lip liner to define lips’ contour.
Here it is Viva Glam I compared to other oxblood reds: Diva and Lime Crime Velvetine in Wicked.
