MAC Cinderella – Studio Eye Gloss
MAC Cosmetics and Disney are teaming up together again. But now, after two main collaboration with Disney Villains (MAC Venomous Villains Collection in 2010 and MAC Maleficent Collection last year), MAC Cosmetics decides at this point to celebrate the good ones with MAC Cinderella Collection. In fact, as for Maleficent movie’s launch, MAC is ready again to promote another live action movie, Cinderella which is hitting theatres these days. Is this a new collaboration with the big franchise Disney Princess? You know, next year may be the turn of Belle, for Beauty and the Beast live action movie.
MAC Cinderella Collection is all played in delicate, soft shimmering tones as you may expect by Cinderella character: pearlized finishes, light textures and pastel, muted colours. A very princess-like collection, indeed. Someone may be disappointed in not finding anything bold or extravagant but I personally like when a collection is faithful to its concept, even if it may not suit my personal tastes.
Due to high hype factor there were a lot of pre-orders for this collection, so it really is going to sold out quickly. The most interesting items from this collection are the Iridiscent and Beauty Powder, the eyeshadow quad which is builded up beautifully even if there are a lot of permanent shades and the amazing Studio Eye Gloss.
I so wanted Studio Eye Gloss when they came out for the first time last year. Unfortunately they went sold out and I couldn’t get them anymore. Recently I was able to see Studio Eye Gloss in Lightly Tauped during latest Milan Fashion Week thanks to Mac Pro Team make up artsits. They looks they created with it were absolutely stunning and I wanted it so bad. I was really happy to get it in store the first day the collection came out.
If you’re skeptical about this kind of product, believe me, Studio Eye Gloss is something different. It is formulated to be long lasting, not like any gloss used on the eyes which is good only for a single photoshoot. Of course, it is a peculiar product and you have to pay attention to a few things when using it.
Here there are some tips&tricks I got from muas to make Studio Eye Gloss work on a daily base:
- use a very teeny tiny amount
- apply it with your fingers or a synthetic brush and dab it on your upper eyelides, not too close to lashline
- use it on bare skin for a fresh, shimmering, glossy eye look
- use a pinch to highlight the inner corner
- apply some moisturizer before removing it, it will make the process a lot easier
Now, what can I say about Studio Eye Gloss. Lightly Tauped has a very sheer base, the colour is a fleshtone, extremely close to skintone so you’ll get a super natural effect. It is full of multi-reflective micro shimmers which are not comparable to glitters at all. It doesn’t migrates at all. If you apply a very little amount you’ll prevent it from creasing. I wore it on its own and it lasted perfectly for several hours without any creasing or messing. On the other side I tried it on eyeshadows and it started creasing after a couple of hours. Its consistency is very thick and sticky but if you use the right amount it won’t glue your eyelids.
Packaging is overly cute: pastel light blue as Cinderella‘s dress and Fairy Godmother and gold details which recall royal palace.
It was extremely difficult to photograph this product, because it is very light-reflective, I hope you can see something.
In Italy it is sold at €28.50 which is a lot but at least you get a huge amount (15ml / 0.5 US fl oz) and a very unique, functional product.
