MAC March 2015 Collections – Recap

This month MAC Cosmetics came out with 4 limited edition collection, where any of them is an exclusive collaboration. Let’s see all MAC March 2015 Collections.

First, we have MAC Cinderella Collection where MAC teamed up with Disney for Cinderella movie’s launch. I only bought one item – Studio Eye Gloss – from this collection (you can read my first impressions about it here). All products have delicate colours, with a super cute special packaging.

In the same days MAC Toledo Collection has been launched. Another great collaboration, this time with the most romantic fashion couple: Isabel and Ruben Toledo. They are well known for their amazing illustrations and designs which combine Isabel’s love for colours and Ruben’s vitality. The beautiful special packaging is from their own design. It is a really nice collection, especially for Pearlglide pencils, and eyeshadows palette since they have a great colour payoff. Lipsticks are beautiful but I think they’re a little too similar so ended up getting nothing from this collection. I wish I had bought something for the artistic packaging, though.

MAC Bao Bao Wan Collection has the most elegant special packaging I’ve seen so far, seriously. It is a matte green – brown duochrome with golden details. I love this collaboration with Chinese photographer Chen Man that celebrates her aesthetic concept. A contemporary beauty that shines like a jewel. I loved the concept and the products and I was lucky enough to get Burmese Kiss lipstick (read more about it here).

MAC Julia Petit Collection is the last limited edition collection for March 2015. It is sold only in few selected locations and everything is already sold out, the same day it launched. This is a collaboration with lifestyle blogger and IT girl Julia Petit. This collection is inspired by her beauty and her view about make up. I’ve been at one of the selected counter in my country but everything was already sold out so I wasn’t able to see this collection in real life.

In addition to these limited edition collections there is also MAC Pencilled In with a lot of permanent new lip liners (hell yeah) and permanent repromote lipsticks.

So this is MAC March 2015 Collections recap. Now I want to share some thoughts about MAC limited editions since with Julia Petit collection everyone went crazy. It is absurd loosing common sense towards a make up limited edition collections. I love make up, I love new concepts and designs but I don’t ever buy items in a compulsive way, only to get a product because of its status symbol. There are tons of people here in Italy who buy MAC items for collection purposes without even knowing the brand identity, the concept behing or the product itself. Buying just for buying. A bulimic inclination to get the maximum amount of product just for showing off. Then there is the black market. As for Julia Petit collection the same people bought 10 items per person. Pre-orders and counters’ anarchy made limited collections sold out the same day they hit counters. I usually receive official press releases when the collections are officially launched and they are supposed to be present in stores for about 4 weeks. This is an awkward situation. MAC must think the same way as me since they stopped pre-orders after Julia Petit collection (as for Italy, of course). I am very happy for this choice and I hope that all this absurd crazyness will stop soon.

What do you think about these MAC March 2015 Collections?
