Summer Coral Lips 2015

Today I want to write about a very summery topic: coral is the most iconic summer colour, isn’t it? I personally don’t mind about wearing colours depending on the current season, i.e. I wear dark vampy colours even it it’s spring or summer and it happens wearing bright, coral lipsticks during winter to brighten the mood. By the way, these sunny days call for coral lips, indeed.

Here it is my personal selection for the best vitaminic summer coral lips. I selected various options from sheer to more opaque and matte finishes.

  • Let’s start from the sheer option from Diego Dalla Palma Spring 2015 Colour Collection (you can see my overview here): Diego Dalla Palma Shiny Lipstick. This sleek black tube delivers a shiny, sheer orange based coral which makes your lips looking juicy and fuller. It is extremely comfortable on lips and really hydrating. Despite being so sheer it is not really transparent but it does have some colour payoff even on pigmented lips.
  • Let’s continue with a chubby lipstick pencil. I like Revlon Colorburst Balms a lot better than Clinique Chubby Sticks. This one is a Revlon Colorburst Matte Balm in Unapologetic. It is an extremely bright, almost neon coral with a fuchsia base. It is really easy to put on even if it tends to enhance lips fine lines but it is really comfortable on lips and it lasts several hours.
  • Another Diego Dalla Palma Spring 2015 Colour Collection option, this one is the Mat Lipstick. It delivers a opaque, full pigment colour with a satin finish. It is not drying and it has one of the best texture I’ve ever seen. It is a coral with a strong hot pink base, really flattering on many complexions.
  • Now it’s time to talk about MAC lipsticks, my favourite out there for their variability of colours, performances and their value for money. My first coral lipstick purchase was one of the most wanted limited edition with MAC Strength CollectionParty Parrot (see post here). A bright, almost neon fuchsia based coral: the perfect balance among orange, red and pink tones. It has a ‘new generation’ matte finish therefore it is extremely comfortable, it doesn’t dry ouyt lips too much and it lasts literally all day long.
  • Then another long-awaited limited edition was MAC Toxic Tale (see review here) came out for the first time with MAC Villains Collection in 2010. Then repromoted for MAC Red Red Red Collection. It is described as a bright coral with a satin finish. It has less pink than Party Parrot and it contains more orange in it. To me it seems more a lobster red. My favourite colour for summer.
  • My last purchase has been MAC Burmese Kiss, limited edition from MAC Bao Bao Wan Collection (see review here). The most comfortable matte lipstick I’ve ever seen since now. Its colour is in-between lobster and salmon, just like if Party Parrot and Toxic Tale had a baby. Less pink than Revlon Unapologetic and MAC Party Parrot but not as much orange as Toxic Tale.
