Prone Skin Routine

I was thinking about this post from a long time. I have already in mind to review in detail all products mentioned here but I can still try to give you some advices for a Acne Prone Skin Skincare Routine.

First of all, let me say that foundations and other make up products don’t cause acne. Acne prone skin is an inflammatory condition caused by various inner factors (in my case, hormones). It is essential to go to a doctor: dermatologist, endocrinologist or a gynaecologist. Beside medical therapy you can take care of acne prone skin with a right skincare routine.

Here there are my advices, but please mind that everyone is different and these are the products which are good for my skin, it may be different for you.

As I said, make up doesn’t cause acne but there are some cosmetic ingredients which may be occlusive for your skin and make your acne worse. I found by myself that there are two fundamental steps: deep cleansing and exfoliation.

During past years I tried a lot of skincare brands: from pharmacy brands to to completely raw. I found that my best for my skin is a mix of pharmacy and (even if not completely , let’s say with a good amount of actives and good ingredients) brands. If you ask me, my skin bears better lightweight silicones than pure oils in high percentage.

Let’s start with morning skincare routine. I like using an organic cleanser with my Clarisonic Mia every other day (review). The best cleanser I’ve tried so far are from Antipodes Juliet Skin-Brightening Gel Cleanser (read more here), John Masters Organics Bearberry Oily Skin Balancing Face Wash (with AHA, read more here), Jurlique Repleneshing Foaming Cleanser (I’m using it right now. It is a cleanser for but it’s not occlusive at all and it leaves my skin smooth and hydrated). After that, I use a . I’m really in love with REN serums (reviews here and here): they’re not overpriced and they’re really effective. Then I use a day without any occlusive ingredients: rosehip oil, sweet almond oil, paraffin etc. SPF is always essential, so if my doesn’t have a SPF I always use a . I love La Roche Posay Anthelios SPF50+ Fluid Ultra Light because it is really lightweight on skin and doesn’t break me out. Some moisturizer I recommend: Elizabeth Arden Flawless Future Powered by Ceramide Moisture Cream (review here), Aesop Sage & Zinc Facial Hydrating Cream (with AHA citric acid), Natural Being Manuka Honey Day Cream for oily to normal skin, La Roche Posay Effaclar K (this one contains AHA lactic acid).

For an acne prone skin night routine I suggest to cleanse off all make up, pollution etc. with Bioderma micellar solution Sensibio (Crealine) H2O. Then my cleanser again with mild water. Now it’s time to chemical exfoliation (Clarisonic is a mechanical exfoliation). On my skin I like using (AHA), right now Alpha H Liquid Gold. But I also really like La Roche Posay Effaclar Duo with (BHA) and Avene Triacneal (glycolic acid).

Once a week a life-saver : REN Glycol Lactic Radiance Renewal Mask or REN Invisible Pores Detox Mask or Aesop Chamomille-Concentrate Anti-blemish Masque.

On exceptional days, when I have serious breakouts, I realy on pure Manuka Oil: used locally, it really helps to reduce inflammation and bad pimples are gone in a few days.
